Zoom Rebrands AI Features and Enhances Videoconferencing Capabilities
Zoom is rebranding and updating its AI-powered features to stay competitive in the crowded market. The centerpiece of these changes is the rebranding of its generative AI assistant, previously known as Zoom IQ, now called the AI Companion.
The AI Companion is powered by Zoom's in-house generative AI, along with AI models from vendors like Meta, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
Interesting to see Zoom leverage three different partner models alongside their own. In light of the row over Zoom's policies a few weeks ago, we’re unsure how Zoom could ensure data from their platform isn’t being used to train the others. Will be interesting to follow.

Its reach is expanding to more corners of the Zoom ecosystem, including Zoom Whiteboard, Zoom Team Chat, and Zoom Mail.
Many of the AI Companion features will live in the Zoom app's side panel, but only paying Zoom customers will have access to them
In addition to the AI Companion, Zoom is rebranding its sales assistant tool, Zoom IQ for Sales, as Zoom Revenue Accelerator. This rebranding comes as Zoom aims to enhance its videoconferencing capabilities and improve user experience
Some key features of the AI Companion include:
  • Summarizing meetings in real-time and creating whiteboard sessions through text prompts.
  • Helping users compose and rephrase chat messages and write emails to customers based on meeting notes.
  • Providing meeting highlights and smart chapters in the Meetings app, allowing users to catch up on missed content more efficiently.
In the coming months, Zoom plans to launch additional capabilities for the AI Companion, including a conversational interface that would allow users to ask questions and connect the interface to third-party apps. The chat interface feature for Zoom's AI Companion is scheduled for release in Spring 2024
