Search Songs on YouTube by Humming the Tune (1)
MusixMatch and SoundHound can also identify music by humming, but Google has the scale to make this a widely used feature.
YouTube is stepping up its game with a new experiment on its Android app that lets users identify songs by simply humming them. This fresh feature, currently in testing, allows users to switch from YouTube voice search to song search, where they can hum, sing, or record a snippet of a song. After a brief three-second performance, YouTube will guide users to videos related to the song they're trying to identify. While this nifty feature is only available to a select group of Android users, its potential for wider release could make song searches on YouTube even more user-friendly. If this sounds familiar, it's because Google, YouTube's parent company, introduced a similar feature in 2020. However, YouTube's version is quicker, identifying songs in just three seconds compared to Google's 10-15 second requirement. It’s currently only available to select Android users in Europe. Imagine this is rolling out worldwide shortly.
