At the recent BRICS summit in Johannesburg, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on BRICS nations to collaborate on AI standardization to mitigate risks associated with the technology.

They recently announced plans to include Saudi Arabia and five other countries.  The standards formed here for AI will be as noteworthy as EU and US. AI standardization and risk assessment are officially a global concern.

Xi emphasized the importance of a BRICS working group for cooperation and information exchange on AI-related matters. The summit, held from August 22-24, saw leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa in attendance, with Russian President Vladimir Putin participating via video link. Additionally, around 40 other nations' heads of state were present. Discussions revolved around topics like BRICS expansion and the use of local currencies in trade. Amidst the growing influence of AI, Xi highlighted the significant changes in the world, emphasizing a "shared future" for all nations.
