BeFake – The First AI-Augmented Social Network (1)
BeFake AI, a new social media app, is embracing the artificial side of social media by allowing users to turn their images into AI-generated art. While BeReal prompts users to share unedited photos, BeFake AI encourages users to use AI to jazz up their images.
BeFake is a nod to BeReal, a platform that promotes genuine, unfiltered content, and gained huge popularity last year. Fake is the new Real apparently. Check out the app here.
After editing, users can upload their transformed photos, but there's a twist: viewers can swipe to compare the original with the AI-enhanced version. For those craving privacy, a subscription hides the original image and offers other perks. However, a word of caution: the app's privacy policy indicates it might use personal data for various purposes, including refining its AI models.
As we saw with the row over Zoom’s privacy policy allowing AI training, this approach could come back to bite BeFake. Issues over training on data is the new privacy rights frontier.
