AI is Better Than Humans at Solving Captcha (1)
Ever been stopped online and asked to prove you're not a robot by identifying traffic lights or buses? Yep, that's CAPTCHA for you. Designed to keep bots out and let humans in, this tech was all the rage. But, plot twist: Google's more advanced version, reCAPTCHA, is now being outsmarted by AI bots that mimic human brain functions.
While AI solving Captcha better than humans may not seem like a big deal now, you have to wonder if this is one of those “well that escalated quickly” scenarios where AI is skirting more robust security where its not intended to.
A recent study even showed that these bots are not only better at cracking CAPTCHAs than us mere mortals but also faster. So, while we all might be annoyed by those pesky puzzles, turns out they might not even be doing their job. As for the future of CAPTCHA? Well, if it's too hard, users might just bounce. So, it's a fine line between security and user experience.
